Stu Ungar

1997 Main Event. My old pal Mel was playing (for second place he admitted). Stuey looked terrible.. His body was a mess. But his eyes.. These "eagle eyes" capable of seeing through your soul.. Everybody was scared of him. Everybody. Watching him in action was mind-blowing particularily in cash games. Not one single poker player that sat on his table has ever been confident about defying that "monster". He was a monster, a freak, a genius. A legend. One of a Kind. The Greatest.

The FIRST time Stu Ungar played No Limit Hold 'em he won the $10k buy-in at Amarillo's Super Bowl of Poker. The SECOND time he played he won the Main Event at the World Series. Stuey knew how to play people, end of story.
He was the greatest player ever to live. We can only imagine what would have been if he was still alive. I think he would have more cashes, more final tables, and more tournament wins than any of the poker greats there are today.

He was "different". His presence on a table was overwhelming, repulsive. You could sense the danger like a prey knows when the predator is around. People that were willing to waste their cash against him soon realised they had no chance on the long run. He always sensed weakness. Always. And he would raise, raise and raise again. No matter the flop, chips were flying, constantly. I saw a guy once folding trips against him. An extraordinary visual memory. A fearless agressive play. The greatest.
